What is a Domain Name ?

If you read through our HTML tutorials, you already know what a domain name is, but if you didn't read those tutorials, or you just need a refresher, I'll go through things again.

A domain name is your site's URL (Universal Resource Locator). The domain you enter into your browser - www.domainstobuy.com. (in the case of our site) - tells your computer that, universally, the site your are requesting (Tutorials) is located at www.domainstobuy.com. With that knowledge (with that URL) your computer opens the site you request.

All web sites have a URL, even if it is a really long URL allocated by a free web hosting service.

The pay hosting services (and even some free hosts) allow you to have your own domain name. That means you need to choose the domain name that's right for you.
